New Delhi: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy made a statement that is sure to raise a lot of heat.
On Sunday, Reddy said the use of Air Conditioners (ACs) was banned in all government offices in view of acute power shortage in the state. He asked the officials concerned to ensure that the power was not wasted and was distributed to farmers judiciously.
The Chief Minister, who is on a tour to north coastal districts, made the statement in Vizianagaram.
Andhra Pradesh presently acquires power from other states for a high price. Dr Reddy said it was the duty of officials concerned to explain the present situation on power crisis to the farmers.
However, despite the shortage, the government was supplying seven hours of uninterrupted power to the farmers.
