No awkwardness with Ranbir, says Deepika Padukone

Mumbai: Actress Deepika Padukone, who will be working with ex-boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor in 'Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani', says there were no awkward moments sharing screen space with him again as they share a beautiful friendship. Deepika and Ranbir dated each other for almost a year in 2008 but things went sour and led to a break up, the reason for which is best known to them.

"I feel if there was any sort of awkwardness I would not have signed the film. We agree to do the film together because we knew that there will be a certain comfort. I think in that sense we both have handled it very well," Deepika told PTI.

After 'Love Aaj Kal', Saif Ali Khan will be seen romancing Deepika Padukone again in forthcoming film 'Cocktail'.
'Cocktail' has been produced by Dinesh Vijan and directed by Homi Adajania. Thanks to its music, 'Cocktail' is creating a lot of buzz these days.
Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty are in the star cast of the film. It will be released on July 13, 2012.
Opposite to what everyone thought, 'Cocktail' is not a sequel to Saif and Deepika's 2009 hit 'Love Aaj Kal'. Interestingly, 'Love Aaj Kal' director Imtiaz Ali has written the script of 'Cocktail'.
The team of 'Cocktail' earlier planned to name it 'Love Aaj Kal 2'. However, apart from Saif and Deepika there is nothing common between both the films, so the idea was dropped.
'Cocktail' is a love story, but it is also about friendship, betrayal, fun and trust.
There are two female characters in the film named Veronica and Meera. Veronica is an outgoing, bold girl, while Meera plays a homely Indian girl in the film.
Deepika Padukone was offered both the roles. As she thinks that Meera is very close to the character she played in 'Love Aaj Kal', she chose to play Veronica.
Apart from 'Love Aaj Kal', Saif and Deepika also paired up for 'Aarakshan'. Both the films did well at the box office.
No wonder, producer Dinesh Vijan calls Saif-Deepika a safe bet. Let's see if his formula clicks again with the audiences or not.
Deepika says that her character in 'Cocktail' is very different from what she has played onscreen so far. She lately revealed that she is getting great response for her bold avatar in the film.
Model Diana Penty will be seen playing 'Meera' in the film. Diana makes her debut with 'Cocktail'.
Diana grabbed everyone's attention after the video of 'Tumhi Ho Bandhu' was released. Her sweet smile and effortless dancing is impressive in the song.
However, not many know that Diana was scared of dancing before the shooting. She took dance lessons to excel in the art.

Saif Ali Khan's character is named Gautam Kapoor in the film. As the producer claims, Saif is the backbone of the film.

No awkwardness with Ranbir: Deepika Padukone

Actress Deepika Padukone will be working with ex-boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor in \'Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani\'.

Post their break-up both Ranbir and Deepika had moved on but when they both agreed to work on Ayan Mukerji's romantic film, 'Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani' there was reports that they are back together again.

On this, Deepika said, "That's not true at all. He is very happy doing what he is doing and I am happy doing what I am doing. I think we are happy being friends and we should leave it there itself."

This is the second time, when Deepika and Ranbir will be coming together. Their first film was 'Bachna Ae Haseeno' (2008) when they were together.

Meanwhile, Deepika will be sharing screen space with south superstar Rajinikath for the first time in Tamil film 'Kochadaiyaan'.

"It was great working with him. I did not feel any pressure. I must say even though he is a big star, he is like a child. He is very excited on the sets. He comes with full energy. He greets everyone including artists, technicians, and

also his daughter Soundarya, who is the director," the leggy actress said.

"I think he and Amitji (Amitabh Bachchan) are the two actors that I have come across, who are so excited about their job...you can see the passion in their eyes," she said.

For 'Kochadaiyaan', a new technique called performance capturing was used, which was new to Deepika.

"We have used a new technique called performance capturing, this is used abroad like in 'Tin Tin'. In this technique actors are not required to shoot entire scene, only their expression and various emotions like tears are captured

and everything else is done digitally. It is almost like animation meets reality," the 26-year-old said.

"It is very new for me. I started understanding it after I finished doing it. It is very complex process, where emotions are captured separately and then with the help of digital platform and post-production they will create these characters and make it look real. It will not look like animation it will look real," she said.

This Tamil film is slated to release in December this year.
