Lucknow/New Delhi: It’s Mayawati’s 53rd birthday on Thursday and while the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and BSP supreme may not cut her birthday cake, she will certainly become richer.

When it comes to collecting funds, this ambitious politician never forgets her ultimate goal. “Unlike other parties, my party does not take money from big industrialists but bank upon donations from the common man,” he said.

The success of Dalit-Brahmin experiment in UP must have made Mayawati politically powerful but greater access to funds came her way after Vashiya leaders with deep pockets joined BSP.

There is a clear instruction to party coordinators to collect at least Rs 3 lakh from each of the 400 Assembly segments.

The BSP has clearly become the common enemy to Congress and Samajwadi Party, who have decided stage protests against Maya on Thursday.

“Mayawati has always supported those who take money in the name of her birthday. Cong is running a signature campaign on this issue,” said State Cong President, Rita Bahuguna Joshi.

After courting controversy when a party official allegedly killed a PWD engineer who refused funds for her birthday bash, Mayawati has become extra cautious.

Party workers have been asked to give receipts for every contribution and also distribute money among the poor.
