New Delhi: The Delhi Daredevils have decided to do away with cheerleaders for the rest of this IPL season. Instead they will concentrate on cricket.

GMR, the franchisee of Delhi Daredevils, feel the presence of cheerleaders does not blend with the game of cricket.

So the girls who were flown in from several European countries are being packed off, at least for this season.

But fans at Ferozshah Kotla will not be left completely cheerless on Wednesday. Sources say, the Bangalore cheerleader team, Washington's Redskins, may perform during the game.

However, GMR officials were guarded on the issue. A GMR spokesperson said next season perhaps the cheerleaders would play a more positive role.

GMR VP Vijay Vancheswar says the team wants to concentrate on cricket. “We are primarily focusing on the game at the moment. Depending on the situation we haven't said a no and as and when it is required we'll look at that. It is a conscious decision that we focus on the game at the moment, important thing is to win the game and this is serious cricket,” he said.
