Bangalore: Superstar Rajinikant apologised and Karnataka was finally able to watch the actor’s much-anticipated film Kuselan in peace. So what do our cultural guardians do next? The Karnataka Rakshana Vedike on Sunday trained its guns on the English language.
They attacked the office of BJP MLA Derrick Fullinfaw because he had spoken in English in the Assembly.
“The fact remains that we being Anglo Indians, I find it very difficult to speak in Kannada without any disrespect to the language. In fact my wife speaks excellent Kannada. If I knew Kannada I would have become a big leader in the state by now,” Fullinfaw said.
But it's not just Fullinfaw who's being watched, the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike has issued a stern warning to all political leaders in the state.
Leader of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike Anajanapa said, “If anyone speaks in any other language besides Kannada in the Assembly, they will face the wrath of our group.”
From water disputes to the language members should speak in the Assembly, there's clearly a method to this madness.
The Karnataka Rakshana Vedike may at the moment have no presence in the Assembly, but this fringe political group is making all the right noises to make it big in the state.
