No place for old loyalists in Team Manmohan

New Delhi: Manmohan Singh's Government is ready for the next five years with some new faces in the Union Ministry.

But the new Cabinet is missing some old time loyalists and tainted ministers.

Several old soldiers were shown the door when the list of ministers was decided. Congress chose to script the political obituaries of quite a few loyalists and say goodbye to some of the most tainted.

HRD minister in previous Manmohan Cabinet, Arjun Singh sulked, whined but it didn't help him get back the portfolio with the loyalty quotient not working in his case,

If there was anyone who would compete with Arjun Singh on loyalty, it was former law minister H R Bharadwaj even though he too appeared to have fallen out of favour.

Rajasthan's tallest Jat leader and former mines minister Sis Ram Ola has been ailing for some time with his age and failing health going against him

Saifuddin Soz is a lightweight compared to his contemporaries from Jammu and Kashmir, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Farooq Abdullah and he had to give up water resources.

With Jharkhand Mukti Morcha doing badly, Shibu Soren was not brought back into the Manmohan Singh Government.

The former coal minister will be cooling his heels in Jharkhand and get ready for the state elections coming up next year.
