No power tussle with Modi, says Advani

CNN-IBN

Varanasi: On the third day of the rath yatra of Lal Krishna Advani, BJP leader Uma Bharti said that he was still the BJP's prime ministerial candidate.

However, Advani continued to stay away from the contentious issue, while denying there is any power tussle or competitive politics with Narendra Modi.

Advani spoke to CNN-IBN's Bhupendra Chaubey in Varanasi.

Bhupendra Chaubey: Are you really disappointed sir with what has happened as far as your equation with Narender Modi's reportage is concerned?

LK Advani: There is a tendency in the media to seek for headlines.

Bhupendra Chaubey: What is wrong with that?

LK Advani: It is not fair very often and particularly ever since the arrival of TV media, even the print media tends to go that way.

Bhupendra Chaubey: What is really happening sir? You announce your plans and Modi goes on a three-day fast. Now you are on your yatra and Modi is doing another fast. Is this competitive politics?

LK Advani: I think so far as that Dwarka fast is concerned, he had announced it that day during the three-day fast itself. My yatra was announced only after our former MPs were arrested and I felt very unhappy and sad about it and I expressed my anguish in the house itself in a manner in which I am not known to do.

Bhupendra Chaubey: What prompted you to undertake this yatra? Were you looking to send the message to your party itself that ‘Main Bhi Hoon Na’?

LK Advani: That was a decision taken just couple of days before the announcement and that too after talking to the party president.
