New Delhi: The fallout of the Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) crisis saw former Karnataka Rural Development Minister Shobha Karandlaje's resignation from Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa’s cabinet as demanded by the rebel Reddy brothers. Yeddyurappa accepted Karandlaje’s resignation and has passed in on to Governor, Hans Raj Bhardwaj.
She spoke to CNN-IBN on her resignation and future plans.
CNN-IBN:Have you been given any reasons for your ouster?
Shobha Karandlaje:No reason was given to me. I asked the leaders whether there are any corruption charges against me, any case of land grabbing, any other case, but nothing is there. No reason was given and that’s why I am a little sad
CNN-IBN: Are you sad that you had to resign?
Shobha Karandlaje:I am a social worker, I will do social work, besides I am a party worker and I'll work for my party.
CNN-IBN: Some people said that you were interfering in other ministries? Do you think all this was concocted at this time to build pressure?
Shobha Karandlaje:No example was given though charges were levied against me. You can ask the Ministers whether I gave any transfer orders or any such thing. I was Rural Development Minister, it’s a large ministry and I had to work with other ministries like Zila Panchayat.
CNN-IBN: Do you think you were pressurised because you are a woman?
Shobha Karandlaje: They didn't treat me like a woman, I think they treated me like a challenge.
CNN-IBN: If your party offers you any position in future will you take it?
Shobha Karandlaje:I haven't thought about it yet..
CNN-IBN: Are you open to it?
Shobha Karandlaje:Yes.
