Lucknow: As Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati and Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi slug it out to win votes, there's another star in the making, Samajwadi Party's Akhilesh Yadav.
As he takes over the reins from his father Mulayam Singh Yadav, the young leader is confident that his party will do well, but remains non committal as far as an alliance with the Congress is concerned.
He also said that the corruption within the BSP and corruption at the Centre will affect the results of the Assembly polls. "People of UP understand that the Congress has been corrupt at the Centre. But it is easier for us to draw their focus to BSP's corruption in UP, and in that context speak of the Centre's corruption as well," Akhilesh said while talking to CNN-IBN.
"It is difficult to predict what the poll results will be. We will see what happens," he added.
He also ruled the possibility of his being the Chief Ministerial candidate. "The entire party wants Mulayam Singh to be the next Chief Minister," he said.
