New Delhi: The probe of the Noida twin murders — of 14-year-old Arushi Talwar and the domestic help at her Sector 25 home, Hemraj — has been handed over to the CBI, who have started investigations on a fresh slate. The CBI has formed 10 teams to investigate the murders.
They have taken Arushi's father, Dr Rajesh Talwar in for questioning though sources had stated that he was not cooperating with the investigators.
CBI sources are now saying that Rajesh Talwar has knowledge of the missing mobile phones of both the victims as well as the weapon which was used to kill them.
Sources have also said that it is almost certain that it was Arushi who was killed first and then Hemraj.
Rajesh Talwar — who is the main accused in the case — on Wednesday underwent a lie-detector test in CBI custody.
Forensic experts from CBI on Monday had used special tools to carve out a bloody fingerprint from a wall of Talwar homw.
Arushi's body was found in her house on May 16 and the police had immediately announced that their main suspect was the family's domestic help, Hemraj.
However, they were proved wrong and were red-faced when they discovered Hemraj's dead body the nest day on the terrace of the apartment building.
The Uttar Pradesh Police had later taken Arushi's father into custody, alleging that it was he who had killed both his daughter and the manservant in a fit of rage as he "objected to her proximity with Hemraj".
Rajesh Talwar's wife, Nupur Talwar, who like her husband is a dentist, has defended her husband, saying he is innocent and both of them discovered Arushi's body together.
Women's rights groups are taking legal advice on how to go about suing the Uttar Pradesh Police for defaming Arushi's character.
