indianexpressExpress News Service

KOCHI: The  Kerala High Court on Monday directed the state government to file an affidavit in response to a petition filed by S N Education and Cultural Trust, Chenthrapinni, Thrissur, challenging the guidelines issued by the government to bring the CBSE schools under the provisions of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act.

In the petition, the office-bearers of S N Education and Cultural Trust under which S N Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School at Chenthrapinni functions, contended that the guidelines could not be made applicable to CBSE schools as they are being controlled and governed by rules enunciated by the  Central Government.

Under the guidelines, the state government has stipulated certain norms regarding the infrastructure, the number of teachers and students for granting recognition to CBSE schools in the state.
