Northeast Indians return from Guwahati, three special trains deployed

Guwahati: The Indians from the Northeast, who had fled cities like Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai, are now returning from their hometown. Sources in the Home Ministry have told CNN-IBN that three special trains have been deployed in Guwahati for Bangalore to meet the rush.

This comes almost a week after several Northeast Indians fled Bangalore and other cities following panic created by inflammatory SMSes and MMSes threatening attack against them.

Although two districts of Assam still remain tense, the overall situation is under control.

Home Ministry sources have told CNN-IBN that three special trains have been deployed in Guwahati for Bangalore to meet the rush.

This comes two days after three special trains left for Bangalore from Guwahati on Sunday taking back those who had fled the capital of Karnataka fearing attacks on them.

While the information was confirmed by a spokesperson of the Northeast Frontier Railway, he could not give the exact number of people returning to Bangalore.

After four days of panic-driven exodus of Northeast Indians, the situation eased on Monday with police and railway officials saying the panic had ebbed in Karnataka and reduced to a trickle in Tamil Nadu.
