Not quitting Third Front: Kumaraswamy defends

New Delhi: Minutes after meeting Congress presindet Sonia Gandhi – a meeting that was supposed to be kept under wraps but got the media’s attention any way – JD(S) chief H D Kumaraswamy convened a hurried press conference to deny a Central alliance with the Congress.

Speaking to newsmen, Kumaraswamy went on a clear defensive and said there was no way JD(S) was abandoning the Third Front, as being speculated by the media.

“We discussed issues relating to Karnataka politics and I don’t think I need to take permission from anyone to discuss party matters,” he said.

Kumaraswamy also said JD(S) will abide by whatever decision other Third Front constituents take after Lok Sabha polls.
