New Delhi: The people who rioted to throw controversial Bangladeshi writer, Taslima Nasreen out of Kolkata and India are finally having their way.
Almost five months after Kolkata Police had a tough time controlling this mob protesting against Taslima Nasreen's writings, the author is preparing to say goodbye to India — at least temporarily.
CNN-IBN has been informed by sources close to Taslima Nasreen that she is shortly going to leave for Europe, possibly Sweden.
The ruling CPI-M, which pushed her out of Kolkata, had washed its hands off the issue.
CPI-M leader, Sitaram Yechury said, "This is an issue between Taslima Nasreen and the Central Government."
Taslima has been complaining that she is not getting quality medical treatment in Delhi and that the life she is forced to lead in complete seclusion is unbearable.
Ideally, she says, she would have loved to go back to Kolkata because she belongs to the culture in that city.
However, the BJP thought that her demands were reasonable.
BJP Spokesperson, V K Malhotra said, "She wants to live in West Bengal, but is not permitted to live there. This is no way to treat any writer."
However, the Bangladeshi author doesn't want to stay in Europe forever. She would prefer to return to India before her resident permit expires later this year.
For the time being, the Ministry of External Affairs will breathe a sigh of relief with the author deciding to leave the country for some time.
