New Delhi: Maharashtra's Finance Ministry is proposing to link Mumbai with Marathwada and Vidarbha using German-made bullet trains.
According to the proposal, the train would first run between Mumbai and Nagpur - bringing down the time taken for the 850 kilometre trip from 14 hours to less than four hours.
If the train shuttles between Mumbai suburbs, the 18 km stretch between Nariman Point and Santacruz airport could be covered in just eight minutes.
If approved, the project is expected to cost the government Rs 17,000 crore.
