Bhubaneswar: Four B.Tech students from the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology in Bhubaneswar have made a robot which can help trace faults and cracks on railway tracks.

The gadget, invented by Abhishek, Vijendra, Saumendra and Piyush, was showcased at a recent technology festival in IIT Kharagpur and was awarded the first prize.

“There are censors in the gadget which indicate when there are any faults in the track and it can automatically move on to the tracks,” explains Abhishek.

Now, the students are planning to approach Indian Railways for its practical use and further development.

“We are looking for some sponsors so that we can develop this project further,” Vijendra says.

Like these four young innovators, young geniuses from across the county participated in the tech fest hoping their talent would one day find use at the practical level.
