THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Now, Sabarimala pilgrims need not wait for long hours to seek blessings of Lord Ayyappa.
The Kerala High Court on Tuesday granted permission to the Kerala Police to introduce online reservation (virtual queue) for darshan at Sabarimala on an experimental basis.
The Division Bench comprising Justice Thottathil B Radhakrishnan and C T Ravi Kumar gave the go-ahead to an application submitted by ADGP P Chandrasekharan seeking permission to introduce the system.
However, the court asked the Pathanamthitta district administration to take steps on the health and hygienic aspects during the pilgrimage season.
It warned that the previous season’s lack of coordination among various agencies should not be repeated.
The management of public hygiene in Pampa, Sannidhanam, Erumeli, Chalakkayam, Nilakkal, Laha and other crowded places is of paramount importance, the court observed.
Moreover, the Pathanamthitta District Magistrate should ensure that pricing of food is done appropriately and the price list exhibited in all outlets.
The DM and ADM Pathanamthitta should ensure that any shop, hotel or other outlets that do not follow norms are shut without notice.
Local bodies in the area should carry out the direction issued by the District Magistrate.
