Patna: If worries about the afterlife are getting you down, you're not alone. In Patna, there's a rush to book space for graves in advance.
Former principal of Navjyoti Niketan, Annie Joseph is now a relieved woman. She says she has fulfilled all her duties in life and that includes paying in advance for her grave. The reason? Well, she doesn't want her family to worry about her last rites and also secure a decent place for her body to rest in peace.
"In remembrance that your dear ones are buried here, I have registered and paid in advance for a place," Joseph says.
Joseph isn't the only one. There are others, too, who have been booking space in the graveyard. They pay up to Rs 50,000 and the entire sum must be paid in advance.
"One needs to find a place for oneself after death. One day everyone has to die and its better to book for a place in advance since there is always a shortage of it," graveyard in-charge, Father Winston Francis says.
Earning to live is no exception but here one has to earn to die in peace. It is a grim reality of the growing cities where money can buy everything even the comforts after death.
