Imagine a world without keyboards, mice or keypads full of tiny keys. And it is not an ad for Apple’s new iPhone.
A cell phone that should hit India sometime next year is a taste of new things to come. It is called a multi-touch-screen-interface, which basically means that you can use as many fingers as you want at the same time.
It is an extra ordinary intuitive interface that makes things like zooming in and out and organises files and folders by just moving them around or drawing or moving around Google Earth.
“The thing that makes it very exciting is that instead of something like the mouse where you have to control the device, which ultimately understands one kind of input, you can use all your fingers. And I think that is natural for humans beings to interact with,” says Managing Director of Microsoft Research, Kentaro Toyama.
It is an extraordinary intuitive interface making things like zooming in and out or organising folders by just moving them around or drawing, or moving around Google Earth very easy.
“The next generation of interfaces will combine some natural forms of inputs, which we call natural UI including sound, speech and touch as well as together with more traditional forms of buttons and levers and so on,” says Toyama.
Apart from that the screen is also smart enough to figure out how hard you press as it responds accordingly.
