Delhi govt to charge VAT on foodgrains

New Delhi: In yet another move that could lighten your wallets, the Delhi government has now proposed a hike in the VAT prices of 41 food items.

For the first time ever, foodgrains will be included in VAT and the rate is likely to be at 5 per cent.

Diesel, CNG, LPG and dry fruits are also included in the list.

There will be different slab structures ranging from 12.5 to 20 per cent.

The list has now been forwarded to the Lt Governor for approval.
