Mumbai: You have seen it on the small screen, you have seen it on stage and now Ramayana gets a 3-D avatar.
Whenever one thinks of a fictional Ram, it’s the image of Arun Govil from Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana that comes to mind.
But here’s a man who wants to change all that. Director Rohit Vaid wants his animated film on Ramayan Mahayoddha Ram to stand out from the rest.
"Its very different. It is a 3-D with graphic comic format and a very rendition of Ramayan,” says Vaid.
And with actors like Kunal Kapoor and Sameera Reddy lending their voices for Lord Ram and Sita, this project comes with its share of glamour too.
"Sita is innocent and she playful and very protective of people she loves,” says Sameera.
And what about the voice behind the menacing Ravana?
"Who could play Ravan better than me in Bollywood. No one can,” says actor Gulshan Grover.
Produced by Pixion pixtures and Contiloe films, the film has 150 animators working overtime to finish this 3D masterpiece.
Mahayodha Ram will have music composed by Aadesh Srivastav and lyrics penned by Javed Akhtar.
This 3-D mythological drama is set to hit theatres by the end of this year.
