Kohima: Nagaland People's Front (NPF), the major partner of ruling Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN), on Tuesday announced C M Chang, a retired bureaucrat, as its nominee for the lone Lok Sabha seat in the state.
Chang's candidature for the Nagaland parliamentary constituency was finalised in the party working committee last night, NPF press secretary Abu Metha said. He is the consensus candidate of ruling Democratic Alliance of Nagaland as its two other partners BJP and NCP had already decided to support the regional party.
Chang had earlier unsuccessfully contested the last two assembly elections from Tuensang seat. In the last Lok Sabha elections in 2004, NPF candidate W Wangyuh won the Nagaland seat by a margin of more than 4.5 lakh votes.
Meanwhile, Congress sources said the party finalised the candidate for LS poll but the nominees for by-elections to four assembly seats in the state will be decided in a few days.
