New Delhi: It's stressful times for parents in Delhi. Nursery admissions for the next academic year have started.
Making sure their child makes it to the best school in the city is the primary worry now for thousands of parents in Delhi.
"I could not get my child admitted last year as well. The school authorities prefer media people and other professionals over us, such as businessmen. Where will the common men go," demands a parent.
The Supreme Court last year granted autonomy to Delhi schools on admissions. Every school has since set down its own parameters on a 100 point system. This has caused some confusion.
"Point system, alumni sibling, or a girl child - I don't fit into any ghabrahat ho rahi hai (I'm really worried)" says another stressed parent.
However, the schools justify the point system.
"It would be unfair if one child studies in one school and the other goes to the other. It's all about demand and supply. There should be more good schools," says principal, Cambridge School, Anu Roy.
"Every school has its own yardsticks and all can't fall in it. We feel bad for those but they should understand the plight of schools," explains principal Sanskriti, Abha Sahgal.
Some parents also complain that the schools were vague about the procedure.
"Timings are unclear and there are age concerns. They are defying DOE and High Court's verdict," says Raj Kumar Sherawat, a lawyer by profession.
Even though school websites and others like nursery admissions.com give some information regarding admissions, it is still very ambiguous.
For parents clueless about the different grading system at all schools, getting their children admitted in Nurseries becomes an uphill task.
