New Delhi: It is less than two weeks now to the US election, and Democrat presidential hopeful Barack Obama is widening his lead over John McCain.
But who are the men who got them till this point?
Meet Richard Burt and Nelson Cunningham, the campaign advisors for the US presidential elections and they were in the Capital to tell India all that is to the Race for White house.
They are the ones who enlightens the potential candidates on every possible election issues such as foreign policy, economy, tax cuts and health care.
They are present wherever the campaigns take place, be it Florida, Denver, Pennsylvania.
Barack Obama and John McCain have slogged it out in the past three months to win the ultimate power seat in the world, the President of the United States, but they talk, walk, eat and sleep what Richard and Nelson ask them to.
Nelson says, “India will be an important part of Obama's foreign policy.
Meanwhile, Richard says, “John McCain wants to deepen those roots between US and India.”
The two were in the capital for a Presidential debate to open the window to Washington for Indians and simplify the US elections. India is the ninth country they are debating in.
The older of the two Richard Burt is with John McCain.
A former assistant secretary of state who advises McCain on foreign policy. He first came to India in 1973.
Nelson Cunnigham.is advising Obama. Nelson met Obama for the first time in 2003. He also has the distinction of advising three loosing candidates, John Kerry, Al Gore and Joe Biden but his luck may well change with this election.
One of the most important jobs of advisors is to give morale booster shots to their candidates and they fared pretty well.
So which of the two will have the last laugh on November 4? Your guess is as good as mine.
