Bhubaneswar: The woman constable, who was on Thursday beaten up by Congress workers outside the Odisha Assembly in Bhubaneswar, is recovering in a city hospital. Meanwhile, the Odisha Police have registered six FIRs in connection with the violent protests.
The police have also arrested as many as 33 people in the case.
Thursday's incident also led to chaos in the Odisha Assembly on Friday as MLAs from the Congress party continued with their protest against the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD), calling the party corrupt and inefficient.
The Congress also called a state-wide bandh on September 10 against the police action on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the state women's commission also met the woman constable in the hospital. It is slated to submit a report in connection with the incident to the state government. This even as the Odisha Police Association has demanded strong action on those involved in assaulting the lady constable.
