Get your hands on a copy of Amitabha Chatterjee's 'Of Wooing, Woes, & Wanderings'. It's like stumbling upon a stranger at your favourite watering hole, and having a conversation you'll never forget. Our man about town, Rajarshi, is one charming storyteller. He enchants you with his tales from El Tigre, and Doha, and Delhi and Muscat traversing love, and lust and everything in between.
There isn't just a drinking escapade - there are two. And, when you're hungry he dips into a home-cooked meal, shredded asparagus, grilled chicken, and a pan of parmesan in Alfredo sauce. Delish, right-o? And, and, there's so much more.
Mr. Rajarshi is an Indian oilman put to work in oil-rigs around the world. 'Of Wooing, Woes, & Wanderings,' trails his varied job postings, whilst bringing to life an assortment of cultures and relationships. Along the way, Rajarshi meets his Venezuelan wife, Marisel; the book intimately bares their ups and downs while shedding light on the predicaments of life on an oil rig.

Set yourself up for a cross of cultures, a dabble in Spanish, trysts with field managers, and geologists, and other workhorses in the little talked about world of oilmen. For someone unfamiliar, this plays out quite a journey.
You may encounter the occasional ramble, but 'Of Wooing, Woes, & Wanderings' had me by the minute. Quite easily, I succumbed to its fantastic bits and jots from globe-over. Buy this. And, if you get the feeling you are prying into a well-kept personal journal and must ask, "Was that true?" you're right with me. Let's get hold of Amitabha Chatterjee, shall we?
