London: India have lodged an official complaint after the 19-year-old Sumit Sangwan went down 14-15 under controversial circumstances to Brazilian Yamaguchi Falcao Florentino in the round of 32 of boxing 81kg category at the London Olympics here Monday.

Union sports minister, Ajay Maken, tweeted after the match, "Our Cuban coach was protesting at the top of his voice. Everyone felt SUMIT should have been declared a winner. Asking COM Brig Raja to lodge official protest against Sangwan decision. Sent an official with requisite $500 to formally lodge it." After a few minutes, he tweeted again, "Sumit Sangwan Bout; Officially the protest is lodged. Let us hope for justice."

Earlier in the day, Sangwan looked to have taken the first and second round but to the surprise of the commentators, bouts were given in favour of the Brazilian 5-4 on both the occasions.
