Srinagar/New Delhi: In the continuing war of words over Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, BJP leader Sushma Swaraj's claim that PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti praised Narendra Modi has become an all out political slug fest. Mehbooba don Tuesday denied that she praised Modi at the recent meeting of the National Integration Council.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah then took a dig saying Mehbooba should be graceful and accept the truth.
"Why can't she (Mufti) just admit what she said rather than deny the whole thing. So much more graceful to accept rather than call Ms Swaraj a liar," Omar tweeted.
CNN-IBN has independently verified pro-Modi comments were made by Mehbooba.
Swaraj had said, "Mehbooba Mufti said that there is no discrimination against Muslims in Gujarat."
Swaraj's comments at Modi's fast in Ahmedabad have led to a political face-off in the Kashmir Valley.
Swaraj was referring to the pro-Modi comments made by Mehbooba at the recent NIC meeting chaired by the Prime Minister.
Mehbooba was quick to hit back saying she never praised Modi.
Mehbooba is now demanding the excerpts of the meeting be made public. The minutes of the meeting are not yet ready.
