Jammu: Politicians and bureaucrats in Jammu and Kashmir will have to give a miss to large cavalcades, abroad travelling and elaborate official parties.
The state government has passed a new order asking the leaders to cut down on unnecessary government expenditure.
“This order clearly states that there will be no unnecessary expenditure,” says Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
As per the orders:
- There will be a total ban on purchase of furniture or stationery except in newly established offices
- There shall no official dinners except those hosted by the Chief Minister
- The number of vehicles allotted to offices will be cut down
- Government officials will have to buy economy class tickets booked over the internet
As the orders have been passed by the state government with a hope to improve fiscal mess in Jammu and Kashmir, questions remain if the rule makers will follow their rules.
