Omega makes Nicole Kidman tick

Shanghai: From working with some of the best filmmakers, doing versatile roles, bagging an Oscar, being a good will ambassador for UNIFEM to being a brand ambassador of Omega watches, Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman has come a long way.

CNN-IBN correspondent Suresh Venkat caught up with the actress, who was in Shanghai to launch Omega’s new ‘Constellation’ Irish watch collection.

Suresh Venkatt: Nicole you have been a brand ambassador of Omega since 2004, apart from your stunningly good looks what else do you think you have in common with the brand?

Nicole Kidman: I just like the way Omega philanthropically care, the way they are involved in United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM), which I too work for. They have a strong social conscience and so do I.

Suresh Venkatt: You have joined a long list of very eminent brand ambassadors including Michael Schumacher and James Bond, how does it feel to be a part of such eminent list of people?

Nicole Kidman: It feels very nice to be associated with a brand that is well respected.

Suresh Venkatt: Apart from being Omega’s brand ambassador you are also a good will ambassador for UNIFEM, why did you choose this cause?

Nicole Kidman: I think when you help women you help families because women are an integral part of the family.

Suresh Venkatt: Do you consider yourself a feminist?

Nicole Kidman: A feminist once told me that I could be what I wanted to be or do what I wanted to do. I have been able to achieve many of my goals and my dreams have come true, I am in a position now, to help other women around the world.

Suresh Venkatt: Are you visiting India?

Nicole Kidman: I want to make a trip to India on behalf of UNIFEM, I had planned on it earlier but cancelled it due to hearing of the heavy monsoons in India.

Suresh Venkatt: In three days you are getting married, are you getting the jitters?

Nicole Kidman: That is a secret.

Suresh Venkatt: You are a an Academy Award winner, you have worked with some the best filmmakers in the world and done versatile roles, what is the next thing for Nicole Kidman?

Nicole Kidman: I do not know. I hope I remain in awe of what is happening, I remain appreciative and grateful that I am healthy. I want to work very hard, keep my feet grounded and take each day as it comes.

Suresh Venkatt: How much of Shanghai have you been able to see in your visit?

Nicole Kidman: Yes, I have been in hotels and I have managed to see the Omega boutique.
