Chennai: April 17 was a special day for Tamil actor Vikram. Not only did the star celebrate his birthday, he also pledged his eyes and got over a thousand fans to join him for the cause.
"I though I'll do something for the mankind, so I'm pledging my eyes-and I though I'd do something for my fans-and that's this cute website going,” he said.
The star got over 1,200 fans to join him in pledging their eyes under The Vikram Foundation-Kasi Eye Bank that he launched on the special occasion.
Vikram also gifted his fans an official website www.chiyaanvikram.net through which they can keep touch with their favourite actor - from knowing what he's wearing on a particular day to which country he's shooting in. And this website comes from a not-so net savvy actor.
"I was not so net savvy all my life. I think I bought this laptop during Dhool in which I watched film on. I watched two films and then I kept it away where it gathered cobwebs and moss-but for the last two years I've really been on the net-I thought I should know everything,” he said.
If the actor surprised his fans with this personal website, Vikram himself got a surprise party at home on birthday eve.
"We had this surprise dinner they had for me yesterday. It was really shocking! I was telling I'd so much work that I've this website to do and I was screaming my way to the room and then I walk into the room and typically like in movies. They switched on the lights and started singing-it was really fantastic had all my friends over and we were dancing and doing all crazy things,” he said.
Vikram is currently busy with his superhero film Kandasamy. But there is a buzz that he will be playing the lead in ace director Mani Ratnam's next film.
"I'd love to work with him. Not really, did he tell you anything? I'd love to work with him. Well, I'm doing a film, it's not official yet,” he said.
