New Delhi: After travelling around the world the Olympic torch is now on a 100-day tour of China ahead of the games that begin on August 8 which began on the top of the world.
The torch landed in Hong Kong on Wednesday and was taken up to an advance camp for Mt Everest approximately 6500m high on Thursday.
The world's highest mountain is called Chomolangma in China and the runners accompanying the torch hope to take it up to about 7700m before it continues its journey.
Fearing pro-Tibet protests on this high profile leg of the journey Chinese officials had asked Nepal to stop all expeditions up to the peak until May 10.
