Mumbai: Are you a devotee finding it hard to devote time to your favourite deity?
You can now send your prayers via cyberspace.
This Diwali instead of lugging out the suitcases for a trip to Vaishno Devi, try clicking over your laptop to book an online puja.
"It’s not possible for everyone to travel because of work schedules. The online pujas and bhajans offer us devotional experience without the hassle of traveling. It’s a matter of faith and I believe mata will respond even if I pay my tribute online," says Sanjay Sakalley, Online Devotee.
The net users can simply log in to the temple website, fill in the puja details, with the credit card figures. For a reasonable sum of Rs 1,100, a priest at Vaishno devi will perform the puja for you.
"During Diwali or Navratra, over 200 people make donations each day for doing Pujas online. It is the NRIs that we are catering to basically," says Ramesh Iyer of Blessingsonnet.com
Big temples like Vaishnodevi and Siddhivinayak have elaborate websites offering everything from online pujas, divine merchandise, downloadable bhajans to even e-donations. The web site of Tirumala temple even web-casted it's 10-day Bhramotsavam festival recently.
Long queues in temples will never stop because nothing can match up with the actual divine experience. But temples websites today have begun couriering back Dvds, prasad and other puja items for their long distance devotees.
