New Delhi: Parliament's winter session starts on Tuesday with the Opposition looking to corner the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance on the Adarsh Cooperative Housing Society scam, Commonwealth Games irregularities and the 2G controversy.
As US President Barak Obama left for Indonesia the focus within the Congress has once again shifted to decide the fate of Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan who finds himself at the center of a storm over the Adarsh society scam.
Chavan's resignation has been accepted on Tuesday morning by Congress President Sonia Gandhi and he will also meet Maharashtra Governor K Sankaranarayanan. Chavan's relatives are in the list of flat owners at Adarsh Society.
The decision on Chavan was postponed because of the high profile visit of Obama to Mumbai and Delhi. Congress also needs time to look for Chavan's replacement.
Congress sources say the two member committee consisting of Pranab Mukherjee and AK Antony may take some more time to decide on Ashok Chavan.
But party insiders say a lot also depends on how strongly the Opposition takes up the issue in the winter session of Parliament which starts on Tuesday.
