Kendrapara (Orissa): As bombs and air raids shake the earth in Lebanon, far away the tremors are felt in a little village in Orissa.
The entire village is mourning as the body of 42-year-old Devesh Kumar Swain reached Khadipal at Kendrapara in Orissa.
Devesh died in Lebanon last week when the glass factory he was working in was bombed by Israel. His relatives are thankful to the Lebanese and Indian Governments for making arrangements to bring his body back for the last rites.
He is survived by his wife and three children.
Says Devesh's brother-in-law, Suresh Parida, "When we heard about his death we never expected that we would be able to see his dead body. We are thankful for all the support extended so far by the Government. We now only request that the Government help his young children in continuing their studies."
Ironically barely few meters away in the same village the mood was very different.
Thirty-five-year-old Anil Swain, who worked in the same factory as Devesh, returned home safely after reportedly going missing for few days after the attack.
Anil, now reunited with his family, lives to tell the horrifying experience he had in Lebanon.
"The fare of air tickets were doubled and that too were not available after the bombing," says Anil.
There were 41 Indians working in the glass factory and unlike many of the other Indian workers in Lebanon whose passports have been impounded by their employers, Anil's employer helped a lot in sending him home safely.
