Bhubaneswar: While film stars from Bollywood earn in crores, stars of regional language films are not so fortunate. A popular Oriya film actor-director Hara Patnaik is struggling with blood cancer and does not have enough money for treatment.
Hara Patnaik says, “I want to appeal to all my fans to help me in this hour of need. I want to come back to the film industry and work."

The fight doesn't end there. He's struggling to arrange Rs 60 lakh needed for his treatment that includes chemotherapy and a possible bone-marrow transplant.
Vellore CMC Dr Auro Viswabandya says, “He came to us with an advanced stage of BC. He is undergoing chemotherapy and he has also improved a lot since then.”
Patnaik who was busy shooting till a month back has acted in 70 films and directed over 20 successful films.
Hara Patnaik's wife Jharana Patnaik says, “I want my husband to get well and return to Orissa."
Unlike their Bollywood or Southern counterparts, actors in the Oriya film industry lament that they get a raw deal - a fact that's reflected in Hara's plight.
Oriya film star Siddhanth Mahapatra says, “Oriya films have to compete with Bollywood in the state. So naturally we lag behind and there is nobody including the state government to support us. So there is no big money like that in South or Bollywood and our industry people have to suffer."
Hara's fans and the Oriya film industry are doing their bit. Several stage-shows and a website fullorissa.com to generate funds for his treatment.
The well-wishers of Hara Patnaik have put up several such hoardings across the state to generate funds for his treatment.
They know that it is a tough battle, but they are determined to fight it out and bring back their favourite star.
