Popular English weekly Outlook has put a smiling Barack Obama on its latest issue's cover, calling the US President 'The Underachiever,' a tag that was used by TIME a fortnight back to decribe Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh. In its cover teaser, Outlook writes: "America needed a reboot – he promised hope and change. Four years on, President Barack Obama's sheen is gone. Can his lofty rhetoric carry him home again?"
TIME's portrayal of the Prime Minister was not taken just as a magazine cover story. The principal ruling party and the Opposition were both vocal about the report, the former blaming the international weekly of failing to understand Indian realities and the latter finding vindication of its stance in the article.
Outlook's cover has become a talking point on social media platforms. Spaces like Tweeter and Facebook are abuzz with people discussing it. The cover image has been widely shared too.
