Ajmer, Rajasthan: More than 80 schools and colleges have been hit by the H1 N1 virus in Jaipur including the Mayo Girls school, where 10 students were confirmed to have swine flu. Most of the confirmed cases in the state have been school children.

Many parents complained the school was not forthcoming with information on the virus spread, but some believe they are been on point.

"It's good, the children will be safe. We have no problems with the decision," said a parent of one of the students.

"They informed the DM, the CMHO came and at 8 am they gave the first dose to the positive students. I don't think it could have been faster than that," a parent, Deepak Hassani said.

However, the number of affected students could be much higher. Few of the 10 students who tested positive for the H1N1 virus didn't show any symptoms, in fact they were randomly selected for testing, after one student was confirmed to have H1N1 flu while she was home. So the number could be much higher.

"We have given medicine to them, the girls are alright now. Other students have also been put through a screening by us they are also fine," said Principal Secretary Health, GS Sandhu.

Mayo Boys School is also now taking no chances in trying to prevent the spread of the virus. While other schools in Ajmer have been closed only till November 21, both Mayo Girls and Mayo Boys have been closed down for the winter break only to be reopened on January 10.

When the school reopens it expects students back with a clearance certificate saying they are virus-free.
