London: India's Leander Paes and Cara Black of Zimbabwe defeated Brazil's Andre Sa and Ai Sugiyama of Japan 6-3, 6-3 to storm into the semi-finals of Wimbledon mixed doubles on Thursday.

The top seeded Paes and Black took just over an hour to clear the quarterfinal stage.

Paes and Black broke their opponents twice in the first set and once in the second to register a comfortable victory. Sa and Sugiyama had their chances but lost six break point opportunities in the match.

The US Open champions will now clash with Stephen Huss of Australia and Spaniard Virginia Ruano Pascual, seeded 12th, who got the better of Australian pair of Peter McNamara and Paul McNamee 6-4, 7-6 (6).
