“Never voted, folks never voted. Selfish way of looking at it but it doesn’t affect me,” says theatre artist Lushin Dubey.
Even looking at the garbage dump right across her house she says that she will vote only if someone can convince her that whatever promises leaders make will be fulfilled.
She also adds saying that she is not even guilty about not voting in the elections.
Across town at a genteel book reading secession ad man Suhel Seth is holding court. He is as Swish as they come, but insists that unlike most of his set he's a compulsive voter and in this election his vote is for infrastructure.
“I would be voting for infrastructure that leads to citizen happiness. I'm talking about municipal bodies, I'm talking about the haphazard way in which the Supreme Court (SC) forced ceiling and creating unnecessary hardship also the delivery and creation of Delhi as a world class city,” Seth says.
The other big concern, which the capitals moneyed royalty shares with the commoners is security.
“The minute the sun goes down you feel insecure. It was the same when I was growing up and now it has gone worse. That would be one very big issue for me,” says actress Ramneeka Lobo.
Security or rather the lack of it is some thing that the Shiela Dixit government has earned a lot of flak for but the good news for her is that most of them seem to identify with Dixit urbane, Miranda House image.
“I would favour an urban CM rather than someone with dubious secular credentials. The BJP will pursue it's fundamentalist agenda, not something I want in my back yard,” says Seth.
“Dixit has the audacity to do what needs to be done,” says choreographer Ashley.
