Bhaskar Kadam, who is a Sub Inspector at the DB Marg Police Stationsaid, "No one was scared. We all thought we have to do it, even at the cost of ourt lives."
It was these brave cops who intercepted the Skoda car driven by the two terrorists who unleashed mayhem in the heart of Mumbai and also gunned down Mumbai's three top cops on their way to Marine Drive.
These terrorists came towards Girgaum from VT and on the way they also fired at Cama Hospital and at Metro Junction is what we know," said Kadam.
The police barricaded the Girgaum junction and waited for the silver Skoda. On seeing the police team, the militants tried taking a U-turn and fired at the police but the police countered the attack with more fire.
Inspector Tukaram Ombade died on the spot. Assistant Police Inspector Sanjay Gowilkar sustained a bullet wound but displayed commendable presence of mind.
Sanjay Gowilkar, Asst Police Inspector, DB Marg Police Station said, "I had it in my mind to catch that terrorist alive, inorder to extract evidence out of him."
These bravehearts gave it all they had, shooting down one gunman and nabbing the other.
