New Delhi: Pakistan's ambassador to Afghanistan, Tariq Aziz-ud-din, has gone missing.
Officials say Azizuddin was going to Kabul from Peshawar by road when he disappeared. His driver Gulmarg and gunman Sultan are also missing.
The missing ambassador was on his way to Afghanistan after taking some rest in Peshawar.
There are reports Azizuddin may have been kidnapped by pro-Taliban militants.
Official sources have confirmed that Aziz is missing but they have not confirmed whether he has been kidnapped or has gone somewhere.
The Pakistani embassy in Kabul said they lost contact when Azizuddin was near the Khyber tribal agency, close to the Afghan border.
The ambassador reportedly went through the Khyber agency without taking a security escort that was waiting for him at Torkham.
Sources say that he used to go to Afghanistan without official security and protocol, because he belonged to that area and was familiar to him.
