Pakistan court to resume hearing in 26/11 case

CNN-IBN

New Delhi: The 2008 Mumbai terror attack case is scheduled to come up for hearing in an anti-terrorism court in Islamabad on Tuesday. The court had previously adjourned proceedings after defence lawyers of 7 suspects failed to appear before the judge.

The Federal Investigation then, filed an application that requested the judge to nominate an official to take records of the court's proceedings to India along with a Pakistani judicial commission.

The Mumbai High Court on its part has given the nod for the Pakistani panel's visit in the first week of February.

The judicial commission is expected to examine the key officials linked to the probe of 26/11 terror attacks.

The trial in the Rawalpindi court has been going on at a snail's pace and the Indian officials are not very optimistic that the guilty will be punished any time soon.

Curiously, four judges of the court have been changed ever since the trial began in early 2009. Shahid Rafique is the fifth judge to hear the case.
