New Delhi: Pakistan remains defiant despite strong evidence in the dossier given by India and mounting pressure from the United States of America to act against terror groups.
It has raised questions about the authenticity of Mohammad Ajmal Amir Kasab's confessional letter written to the Pakistani High Commissioner in India asking for legal aid.
Reacting to the letter written by Kasab, Pakistan's High Commissioner to the United Kingdom Wajid Shamsul Hasan said, "We will first like to join hands with India. Let Indians and Pakistanis meet and let’s see the confession statement. I believe what I have heard that the confession statement has been given in Hindi by that so called Pakistani. Pakistanis don't speak Hindi and the stated confession is clearly in Hindi. You have an explanation for that? You must remember that India itself has an internal insurgency going on in eight states. Things there are very serious. It could be India's home grown terrorists involved in these incidents."
Hasan reiterated Pakistan's demand for a joint investigation into the Mumbai terror attacks.
"As far as the India allegations are concerned, they are much similar to the past. We have been telling them that we are willing for a joint investigation, setting up a joint commission for looking into the charges and allegations. But so far we have not received any positive response from India. As a matter of fact, they continue with their jingoistic language," Hasan said.
The defiance came even after India handed over to Pakistan a detailed dossier with evidence linking it to the Mumbai terror attacks.
It seems Pakistan is not satisfied even after the US also said that the terrorists who attacked Mumbai had Pakistani links.
India has also shared this dossier with other friendly countries, including China. New Delhi is seeking the extradition of the perpetrators of the Mumbai attacks.
Detailed evidence has been shared with 14 other countries, whose citizens died in the attacks. A sanitised version of the dossier has been shared with 167 other countries.
The evidence include confessions made by captured Mumbai attacker Kasab, records of satellite phone used by the terrorists and transcript of conversations between the attackers with their Lashkar handlers based in Pakistan, who were based near a Pakistani Army camp.
It also contains the log book recovered from MV Kuber, the fishing trawler hijacked by the terrorists to enter the Indian waters and tracks it journey from Karachi to Mumbai.
Evidences also point to the involvement of the ISI in planning and executing the terror attacks and includes taped conversations between ISI Majors and Generals.
Meanwhile, Kasab's police custody ends on Tuesday.
