Pak PM for friendly, mutually beneficial ties with India

Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on Tuesday expressed his desire to work together with his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh to forge friendly and mutually beneficial relations between the two countries.

Ashraf made the remarks in a message sent to Singh to felicitate him on India's Independence Day on August 15.

"I would also like to reiterate our sincere desire to working together with Your Excellency towards forging harmonious, friendly and mutually beneficial relations between our two countries so as to achieve the shared goal of peace, progress and prosperity," the premier said.

Raja Pervez Ashraf made the remarks in a message sent to Manmohan Singh to felicitate him on India\'s Independence Day.

Ashraf extended to Singh and the people of India "heartiest felicitations on the occasion of your Independence Day" on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan.

India and Pakistan resumed their dialogue process last year after a gap of over two years in the aftermath of the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks that were blamed on the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba.

The Foreign Ministers of the two countries are scheduled to meet in Islamabad next month to review the last round of talks.

President Asif Ali Zardari has invited Singh to visit Pakistan in November to give a boost to the bilateral peace process.
