Poonch/New Delhi/Islamabad: Just two days after two Indian soldiers were killed by Pakistani troops near the Line of Control (LoC) in a case of ceasefire violation, the Pakistan army on Thursday evening violated ceasefire again even as it claimed that one of its soldiers was killed by Indian troops.
The latest incident of ceasefire violation was reported from Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir where the Pakistani Army fired at Indian posts. Notably, in the Tuesday incident, the Pakistani troops had crossed into the Indian territory and ambushed an army patrol party in the Mendhar sector of Poonch.
Meanwhile, the neighbouring country claimed that one of its soldiers was killed by the Indian troops on Thursday in the Battal sector. According to Pakistan Army spokesperson, the soldier was killed in unprovoked firing by Indian side.
Amidst these reports came a sudden step by Pakistan to briefly shut its doors on Indian trucks in Poonch. The neighbour has not opened its doors at the trade point of Chakan da Bagh, causing a long queue of trucks at the border.
However, both India and Pakistan have played down the issue. While a Pakistani diplomat has said that the move is unrelated to the deadly exchange of fire between the two countries this week, India claimed that some trucks had been unloaded and others would be done in the night.
Naem Anwar, Trade Minister, Pakistan High Commission, said, "Sometimes there is a heavy movement of trucks, so we stop them. There could be a host of issues maybe local issues. The recent incident has nothing to do with it. I would have known if there is."
