Islamabad: Renowned Pakistani singer Mehnaz Begum died Saturday after a long illness. She was 55, state-run Radio Pakistan reported.
Mehnaz passed away in Bahrain enroute to the US for treatment.
Geo News said the singer was suffering from respiratory problems and died during a short stay in Bahrain.

Mehnaz was the daughter of popular sub-continental singer Kajjan Begum.
She sang over 2,500 songs for radio‚ television and films in a variety of genres like ghazal, thumri, dadra, khayal and drupad.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf have condoled her death.
