New Delhi: They say you should never ask a woman her age. But etiquette is forgotten, and everyone is asking the question, how can this woman be just 7 years older than her son – an alleged notorious criminal politician.

Shanti Priya is mother of Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav, a former RJD MP from Madhepura, who has been debarred from contesting elections by the High Court for a different reason.

An independent, contesting from the Purnea parliamentary seat, with support from the Congress, Shanti Priya is just 49 years, according to the affidavit submitted with her nomination papers.

Now interestingly, as per the affidavit filed in 2004 by Pappu Yadav who contested from Madhepura, he is now 42 years old. Which means the mother-son duo is just 7 years apart.

Shanti Priya said, "Issme hum log ka galti nahi hai jo mera voter list main age hai, wahi diye hai (It’s not our fault, my age is what is in the voter list).”

Meanwhile, deputy CM, Bihar Sushil Modi said, "Pappu Yadav chamatkari purush hai maa se kewal 7 saal chote hai, isko chunav ayog dekhega (It is very strange, the EC will look into this).

The matter has come before the election commission; another independent candidate has filed a case against Shanti Priya.
