New Delhi: Less than a month after India's best show at the Olympics, CNN-IBN has learnt that our specially-abled athletes are struggling with no escorts at the Games village at London Paralympics.
While Indian officials are staying at the village, the coaches and escorts have been asked to stay outside on their own expense.
Sports Ministry sources say that the responsibility of allocation of rooms lies with the Paralympics Committee of India. They also added that the Indian Olympics Association has no hand in organisations as the PCI is not part of it.
Indian weightlifter Farman Basha told CNN-IBN that there is no one to escort him around the village because of which he's having problems in getting meals as well. Basha also said that athletes haven’t even been given their daily allowance.
Farhan Basha was one of the specially-abled athletes who spoke to CNN-IBN before leaving for the Games. And they were all excited to do India proud.
