New Delhi: It's not just another day for Anant Gupta’s prep-school classmates at Lotus Valley School. Most of them have seen his photo on television and know he won't be in class on Tuesday.
They might not comprehend exactly what happened to their friend but they've sensed the worry in their parents' words. And the children seem to be well informed.
"Don't talk to bad guys. If he gives toffee don't take it," says Anant's classmate, Manzil.
“Don’t talk to anyone and don’t go where Anant has been kidnapped,” says another student, Alina.
As Anant’s parents Naresh and Sudha Gupta wait for their three-year old to return home, other parents across Noida and Delhi are being extra careful.
“I have been coming personally to pick up my child since yesterday,” says a parent, Shefali Verma.
“All the children and parents have to be careful. Ghaziabad is too close for comfort,” says another parent, Fatima Ali.
“We have to hire more cars for ourselves and move around for our kids since the system is not doing anything for us,” says a parent, Vipul Dutta.
It's not been much of a Children's Day at Anant's school with all celebrations being cancelled with a prayer meeting being held instead.
“For my own child I pray that our Anant comes back soon,” says the Principal of Lotus Valley, Madhu Chandra.
As Anant's parent’s and school pray for his safe return, a question every parent is forced to ask today, on Children’s Day, is how safe are our children?
